Hi I need some answers from some nurses. I am a future RN (june 6,2003- grad date !!!!:D ) For a paper I am writing i want to take a poll from real nurses about nursing. If you could please answer one or more of the questions.

1). Why are nurses so important

2). What do you see as the most important part of nursing?

3). What have you done or seen someone else do to change the

stay or outcome for a patient?

Please help me. :kiss

ok I know this thread started almost 4 years ago and has been resurrected but I think its interesting.

Nurses are important because doctors only diagnose/treat the medical part. Its the nurses who actually care for the patient in an intimate, one on one manner to facilitate healing.

The most important part of nursing is the moment when the patient either gets better or improves in some way. Its the kindness when you help a patient who can't help themself. Its the feeling in your gut when a newborn baby gazes right at you and you know that you are witnessing a miracle. Its the time spent at a dying patient's bedside, again witnessing miracles.

I have advocated. I have made my patient's hospital stay as pleasant as it can be. I have been the one to help my patient when there was no one else. I have done my best in all things.

Oops. I didn't realize this thread was nearly 4 years old prior to making my first response. Oh, well..... ;)
