Whistle Blowers

So, I have been working on a floor that only has female nurses and aides. I have come across some cattiness in other areas of nursing, but not to this level! Today, I found out that one of my coworkers was complaining about me earlier at work, stating that I was "always" late. That is false. I was ten minutes late that day ONLY. Upon some investigating, I found that out that thisfemale, a night shifter, is a whistle blower who is quick to throw someone under the bus just to make herself look better. But get this...this female has been caught numerous times by other coworkers snoozing on the job!

Now, I'm not perfect, hence why I don't blow the whistle on petty things (I'm too old for that crap). But I can't stand hypocrisy. So, I show up ten minutes late and you're going all cray-cray, threatening to email the manager, but you can get a reputation for sleeping on the job? Am I the only one who sees a disconnect?

I'm not the kind of person who goes running to the manager just to get some extra points. In fact, in my years of working experience, I have never done so. I'm just not like that. If I see something done, I get it done. I don't whine about night-shift or other workers. I also don't report to the manager about other people's mess-ups because we all make mistakes. Unless this is a safety issue or something extreme like abuse of a patient, etc, I'm not going to go out of my way to mess up with someone's livelihood, especially under false pretenses. You just don't do that.

Anyway, so my question is this: How do I deal with a whistle blower? And if she does talk to the manager, will the manager immediately pull me into the office or will she look at my time keeping and tell my co-worker to shut it?

Everyone's late now and then. You know you've been doing the right thing and this other nurse is a tattletale as well as a midnight snoozer, so what's there to worry about? I absolutely understand your irritation, but let her reputation speak for itself.

I guarantee if she's doing the whistleblowing thing on a regular basis and she's sleeping on the job, the managers know what's up. Those motives are as transparent as Lululemon's yoga pants. I'm a noob in the managerial department and even I've seen that song and dance before.
