Where to go next?

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Hi! I'm a relatively new nurse at a rural hospital in Maine. This December I'm coming up on my two year mark at the place I'm working at. I've had a great experience so far. I've been lucky enough to work in the float pool, orient some new grads and work with a helpful and supportive staff. But I've lived in Maine my whole life except when I lived outside of Boston for nursing school.

I want to move out of state mostly because I'm young with no serious ties and to escape the snow haha. I eventually want to do travel nursing but I'd like closer to 3-5 years experience before I do that. I'm not in a serious rush and I've been doing my homework about cost of living but I'd just like to know where people went/why they liked it and how did they decide where to go when leaving their home state? thanks!

Cant give you any personal information except to say that I believe that Maine is one of those nursing license COMPACT states. Don't know if that's your original licensure state or Massachusetts (not COMPACT).

Don't know if that might impact your wanderlust/travel plans? (Oh, to be young again!)
