When is too early to interview?

Planning a relocation to another state and will be traveling soon to start house hunting, etc. We plan on traveling in April but will that be too soon to set up interviews if we plan to relocate in August? Will I be taken seriously? When is the best time with a relocation to interview?

I relocated to VA four months ago. Appx. two months before I actually moved, I started calling the nurse recruiters at the facilities I was interested in and faxing resumes. I spoke with a few of them at least twice before my actual move. The response was the same for all, which was please call as soon as you reach town for an interview to be scheduled. One of the recruiters called me twice before I even moved.

Once I reached the area, I called them and they all remembered me immediately since I made sure to talk with them in length a few times before hitting town. Interviews were set up within a week. I didn't want to commit to anything until I knew the area and had more time to learn about the companies. I started to make contacts only a few months in advance. That was my experience for this recent move.

As it turned out, I didn't end up at any of the facilities I interviewed for. After reaching the area, the places I interviewed at were not for me, for one reason or another.

I ended up accepting a position at an out patient oncology clinic, which is a new area for me. After the interview, I just had a feeling it was for me at this time in my life. Fortunately, I love it so far.

Good luck to you and welcome!

That's a good time frame you used. Thanks for the advice!
