What has happened to WA nurses who tested positive for THC? First hand experiences please.

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Hello,

I am currently licensed in WA and recently moved to this state. I accepted a job and passed a drug test. I am aware of the stigma regarding marijuana usage and nursing. I do not currently use marijuana, nor would I risk being impaired on the job (as I also would not risk with alcohol but think it is ok to have a drink during the weekend). I am not looking for judgemental comments. There seems to be a lot of confusion in Washington with what actually happens to nurses who test positive for THC. I am aware that you will be terminated if the employer chooses to do so. I would like to know what happens with the BON. Has anyone tested positive for THC and had the Washington BON terminate or suspend their license? I don't want to hear anti pot opinions, I am looking for facts from people with first hand experiences. Thank you!
