What exactly are these abbreviations?

Hi, I don't know if what I'm asking even belongs in this category, but here goes...what exactly is ADN, CNA, and CENA? I have seen ADN and CNA mentioned on this board and have seen all three in our local newspaper's employment ads. Isn't CNA Certified Nurses Assistant? What is the job description of these positions? My youngest will be in kindergarten in the fall, and I am considering going to work; I want to work in a hospital setting, and I want to get into college and eventually nursing someday. but while doing that I would want to work. How do I go about finding training for the above mentioned positions?

CNA = Certified Nursing Assistant

CENA = Certified Evaluated Nursing Assistant

ADN = Associate Degree Nurse

Most nursing homes offer training for Certified Nurse Assistant in return for an agreement to work there. Some technical schools offer a certificate program that can be completed in a couple of weeks. School, you have to pay for. Getting the training through a nursing... you get paid and you pay nothing for the training. Plus, being a CNA is recommended if you wish to persue a degree in nursing. It will allow you to live, laugh, learn and grow into the profession, IMHO.

And remember, in some parts of the country a LNA and a CNA are the same thing.
