Weight loss center calls my child

A certain weight loss - fitness center called my teenager last night. They told her that she had been referred to "lose 10 pounds" and would she be interested in their program. My child is very athletic, and not overweight. I called the center and they told me that she was referred by a client, they do not know who. I asked them if it wouldn't be more appropriate to call and ask if any adults in the house would be interested in their services. They told me that they do not make a distinction between adults and minors when they call. They didn't see a problem.

So many teenagers have eating disorders in this country. I understand that they need to drum up business, but wouldn't it have been better to offer a fitness program and not tell her that she has been referred to lose ten pounds? What do you think? Last night she asked me "Do you think I am fat mom?. I told her I think she's perfect. And to tell you the truth I would still think she was perfect if she was 10 pounds overweight. She only picked at her dinner last night, and skipped breakfast this morning. "I'm not hungry" she said.

Thanks for letting me vent. I love this bb and the people on it.

and I think this is a male conspiracy...you know, make women make themselves smaller and smaller, more child-like appearance, easier to dominate/control.

I just read that corsets are coming back into vogue...yes, the kind like in "GWTW" where you need another person to lace you.

as to the male conspiracy...I think you may be right, BUT women have bought into the game and are perpetuating it!! I've heard a few women say some nasty things about each other r/t weight and how clothes fit...it's cruel!! If you've been watching "American Idol" at all you've heard Simon complain about every females figure (well not "every" but almost) and Paula gives him crap for perpetuating the eating disorder problems in the world. It's just not right!! the magazine photos that we all aspire to aren't even real!!! Even Kate Winslet says that they have over airbrushed her photos - to make her look thinner!! What I don't get is why that's legal?? If you don't look that way "really" in those jeans...isn't that FALSE ADVERTISING?!?! GRRRRRR

As for the corset thing - Gawd I hope not!! I cannot stand not being able to take a good deep breath!!! I bought a"body shaper" thingy once and it was torture!!!!!! YUCK!!

That is so not business like and so very rude on their part. This anonymous person must be miserable with themselves and wants to drag other people into her misery which loves company!
