Want to start exploring research//over bedside nursing

Nurses General Nursing

Published

I have been a NICU nurse for almost a year (was also a nicu tech for a year) and have realized that I love the neonatal world but do NOT love bedside nursing and hospital schedule. That being said I have done a lot of investigating into what other options are out there for nurses (more of a 9-5 m-f schedule) and am really interested in neonatal research. The jobs I have seen postings for all require at least some research experience....SO question is---anyone know how I can volunteer/get involved in some research while still working full time as RN? Just wanted to dip my feet into research, make sure it's what I want to explore next, and need some resume boosting! Thanks

So why not get involved at the floor level by researching EBP and floor trends for providing better patient care in your area?

Be the change you want to be and maybe you'll find yourself more invested in your floor and specialty to actually spend enough time in it to really make a difference and have actual experience in that could take you farther later on in your practice. You only have a year so far...
