Nurses General Nursing

Hi All,

Hoping to bounce a career concern off you all. I became an RN in 2013 and worked on a telemetry unit for a year before joining my husband overseas at his duty station. Nursing jobs were scarcer so I went back to school for my BSN and volunteered locally at the military clinics once a week.

Two years later, we are moving to Texas. I'm very worried I won't get a job. I have experience but a two year gap of clinical experience is a lot.

Any my other nurses been in the same boat? Do you suggest any reading materials?

A fellow RN could use some advice here!

You don't say where in Texas (it is a BIG state), but Texas does seem to have more "employee friendly" markets than many other states. If you have a year of solid experience, have been in school and have been doing volunteer work, it's likely that you'll be able to find someone who'll take a chance on you.

El Paso, Texas will be our next home!

I don't have any good advice. I have never lived in Texas. But it sounds like you are very motivated to say the least. Even though you were not doing salaried work for a gap, you were in school and you were still bettering yourself and volunteering which looks great. wish you all the best! Keep us posted!
