Rn New Grad Working with Recruiters

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Good Morning,

I am a RN new graduate and I have been in the wonderful in between of not having acute care experience and dealing with and over saturated new graduate market in Souther California. I currently have a job working as a home health nurse but my case load is limited to what I feel comfortable doing. I am a second degree (BS in Psychology and Neuroscience) with 10 years of career experience in mental health, social services and health care programs/administration. I got an competitive externship in med/surg my last semester of nursing school AND was chosen to be a clinic manager for our free nursing clinic. I was told I would have no issue getting into a new graduate program here in San Diego with my school and career experience, but that has not been the case. I have recently been getting emails from travel agencies and nurse recruiters. I have two recruiters working on finding me new graduate positions in LA currently but I have been told NOT to apply to anything while they are doing so. I DO have a back up plan to take a position in Great Falls Montanta but it is Montana. Anyone have any luck with recruiters and new grad programs in Acute Care? Any advice?

Thanks!

Alia Holyfield RN, BSN
