officially leaving the bedside...

Nurses General Nursing

After 6 years on bedside staff nursing, I am leaving the bedside for a faculty position at a jr college. I decided to not stay PRN as I need to get acclimated with my new full time role......also, the huge perk is off fri thru sun! No holidays! No late shifts!

Anyway, it's almost bitter sweet as I am leaving a WONDERFUL Hospital.

Anyone leave bedside nursing and feel this way? How difficult is it to get back into it with years off? Am I crazy!?

Congratulations! I eventually want to teach, whenever I decide to get off my duff and get my MSN. Anyway, congratulations!

I left the hospital and did home health/outpatient things for a few years. When I interviewed back at a hospital, I felt like I was home. Some of my skills were rusty, but as they say, it's just like riding a bike.
