Nursing shorthand symbols!

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Hi!

Wondering if anyone knows of a website where there's a list of all the nursing shorthand symbols? I have to do this deciphering exercise but can't found any information:o!

I'm stuck on these symbols,

1) ++

2) a dot with a line underneath (sort of like a division sign but without the dot underneath)

3) two dots side by side, a horizontal line underneath the dots, and then two vertical lines underneath that

4) a dot, then a horizontal line underneath, and a c underneath that (i know that a c with a line over it is "with" but how about with an extra dot on top?)

5) ADDITT

Appreciate any help you can give!!:)

Learning symbols for drams, minims, grains, ounces... converting to metric and 'household'.

Ack. I'm having flashbacks :stone

Hey thanks for everyone's responses! Really helpful of you all :)

I'll be sure to let you know the answers when I get them back. ugh.

BTW that apothecary calculations looks nasty...can't wait till I start them (NOT!) hehe

Tee Hee, additt = to add to, like if you make an entry into notes and sign them and then you have to add something else you write "additt" then the further notes. BTW you are not supposed to use any shorthand in the hard notes.

dot, line, c means 'with'; dot, line stroke means one of anything, tabs, poos etc and dot, dot, line, stroke, stroke means two of anything.

Oh and plusses mean lots. Like in GCS scores, or exudate. You usually have one, two or three. meaning some, plenty or lots.

additt - short for addition.
