No holiday pay!!??

Hi all! I am an intern at a hospital and I just found out the other day that the nurses don't get holiday pay. They just get an extra day off sometime throughout the year. I wouldn't mind working Christmas or New Years if I knew I was getting time and half (or something extra)......but no extra money??? This shocked me!! Is this how it works at your hospital??

we get double time and a half for major holidays if worked and time and a half for all others,,, they even pay full time employees 8 hours for holidays they dont even work, not too bad

where I work, everybody (except prn and registry staff) works every other holiday. We don't get an extra day off if we work the holiday. we don't get extra pay. If you have Christmas off you work Christmas Eve. By the way this is a Catholic hospital that doesn't count Easter as a holiday, so Easter always seems to fall on my weekend to work. If you get a holiday off, it is simply one of your days off.

Where I'm at just about all the perm. staff call in with no concerns whatsoever. I'll never take another travel assignment over the holidays! If you start work at 2300 New Year's eve you don't get any holiday pay, but if you start work 2300 New Years Day you do, so it encourages them to call in New Years eve (sometimes at the last minute) and have the agencies work those shifts. I hate working with a skeleton crew too. Sorry for the pity party, ha, but it's the only one I'll get this year, I'm working tonight. blah..
