New Grad Residency in NYC

Nurses General Nursing

Hello all!

I am currently in my last semester of nursing school in NJ and was hoping to get a job in NYC when I graduate this May 2018. I am getting a head start on my search as I know it'll be very competitive.

I was hoping to get some advice from people who have been through this exact process in NYC. I am looking into Mount Sinai, NY Presbyterian, NYU Langone, and Memorial Sloan. I've heard that it is quite difficult to get even an interview if you don't know someone as there are so many applicants. Does anyone have any advice for me in terms of applying to these places? I have been contacting the hospitals in order to find out about these new graduate events for nursing students who are about to graduate and how/when to apply to nurse residencies.

Should I be in direct contact with nursing managers or nursing recruiters? And how would I go about doing that effectively without bothering these people?

Also, how many positions should I be applying to in each hospital? I know I shouldn't go overboard, but I'm very open to most units.

I am extremely eager to start this new part of my life and I hope it all works out for the best! Your advice is much appreciated :)
