Moving to Maryland!?!

Nurses General Nursing

Short and sweet...

I grew up in Montgomery County and have lived in the secluded mountains of SW Virginia for 10 years. I'm sick of the lazy life and ready to come home. I have just finished RN school, (ADN) and I have been a LPN for 4 years prior. I have worked in corrections for 3 out of the four years. Anyone in corrections nursing, or know anyone who is? Main concern--COST OF LIVING!!! I have a husband with no formal education and two small kids. I fear not gaining adequate employment/income to live in Maryland. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Sorry so long--I'm a newby!

I live in Frederick Co. It's growing like crazy and getting expensive in some areas, but still affordable. Pay at FMH is better than some Baltimore hospitals. I don't work there though :)

Hagerstown is still pretty affordable and has some nice housing. Washington Hospital is supposed to be pretty good to work at.

AA county, I'm not too sure of. Hospitals there are good. I had a friend who lived in Crofton, I think and people love it. Prices are going up there though and it's starting to getting pretty crowded because it's a popular place.

Thank you so much!!! I grew up in Germantown and there is NO way we can afford it there. My sister's like Frederick County. My niece attends high school at Urbana and loves it. My sister's suggested Hagerstown due to the fact it still kind of rural in comparison to Montgomery/Frederick counties. I'm really getting excited at the prospects of moving back!!! Do you like nursing in Maryland?
