I live in MI and a number of years(1989) my RN license was suspended for six months. for drug diversion. I ultimately went back to college knowing what the outcome would be. I received a BS in mechanical engineering in 1993 and went to work in the automotive industry. My last nine years with GM. I was laid off and now want to return to nursing. I have a hearing scheduled for Mar 7 which will be postposted since I am not prepared...meeting w/attorney. It was mentioned in this board about nursing lawyers. Anyone familiar??? BTW I was ultimately diagnosed as bipolar and am now stabilized. My psych doc believes I was self medicatling. Any help would be appreciated.

good luck with every thing

Go to the NSO website. They should have the address for the American Assn of Nurse Attorneys there. You can contact this orgn to obtain a nurse attny to advise and represent you at the hearing. As a minimum get yourself mentally ready to present in your behalf, what you have done in the way of rehab, letters of recommendation, ltrs from employers, etc. Make certain that you don't do this without the services of a nurse attny. Good luck.

Thanks so much for your info I found that website while surfing and sent a message. I do have an appointment with an atty this week and am taking a nursing refresher course now. I thought a nurse atty would know the system better. I didn't know they existed. I also see a psychiatrist on a regular basis.
