Medical Issues-Would Like Your Experiences-Not Advice

Hello all. I have two issues I'd like your experiences and/or opinions about. I was diagnosed with sleep apnea years ago. I couldn't tolerate CPAP, so A mouth appliance was made for me. I believe this would have helped, but it began to loosen my permanent bridge, which I then had to have repaired. My dentist wasn't happy! He said he couldn't repair it again. So now I'm just out there without treatment, so I'm wondering what some of you with this condition have done that has helped you. Specifically what devices are you using that you're able to tolerate? I would like some ideas before I go back to pulonology. Thanks.

The second issue is that I had surgical repair for a kidney obstruction (congenital) after years and years of elevated BUN/Creatinine and being told to drink more fluids. Well, finally this thing began to cause enough problems, primarily stabbing flank pain, that it got diagnosed. Yea! The surgery was successful and I am way better. Why it took so long to catch I don't know, but that kidney was getting more and more enlarged, hence the increased pain. So, question. How important is the GFR re chronic kidney disease, or as the BUN/creatinine improve, which they have done so considerably, does the GFR improve? My last one was BUN=25, Creatinine=1.08, GFR=52. I am still having F/U lasix renal scans, which show things are working much better. If you don't mind sharing, any personal experience with these two issues would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.

Despite your preamble about not asking for medical advice, by offering up a support group type question within a forum of professionals, it is hard for it to remain non-medical so to speak. Besides, your chances of finding similar experiences would likely be much better in a patient support group.

Good luck.

Yes, thanks for your response. I still believe that a group of professionals can offer more insight and a better understanding of their own conditions than a group of lay people.

You're asking for medical advice on a nursing forum.

It's better if you consult your physician (or some other medical professional) personally. That way, a thorough assessment can be made. It's the responsible thing to do.

It's not a good idea for medical professionals to offer medical advice on an open forum.

I'm sorry, but no matter how you slice it, the original post is indeed a request for medical information that is best obtained from a qualified practitioner who knows the individual and his/her health problems, not an anonymous group on the Internet.

It is beyond the scope of our practice as nurses and nurses-to-be to offer anything that could possibly be construed as medical advice. Good luck to the OP in resolving his/her medical issues.

Closing thread now.
