IVIG saline lock question

Hey Everyone!

I'm kind of worried about something. I was recently trained at doing IVIG therapy at homes and this was my first time. The patients wife was very overbearing and protective (which isnt a big deal, but she was over my shoulder non stop despite my asking politely). I was so nervous because its an infusion for 4 hours, 2 days back to back, with a substance thats 90 g total that costs $75/gram!!

Anyway, I did well but at the end I was at the end of my stress level and forgot to lock the Peripheral IV with saline and now I'm freaking out!! I tried to call the patient but it was his wifes b-day and they arent answering. My supervisor says its ok because I'm going back tomorrow just to gently draw out the remaning solution and flush it with saline. Do you think this is ok? I just feel so nervous about it. I can't believe I forgot.

So, you finished up the IVIG infusion and then disconnected for the final time, but then failed to flush the IV catheter s/p infusion? Well, I hope you didn't end up with a clotted IV catheter, but odds are that the patient should be fine.
