How do I find research studies & articles on Evidence Based Practice?

our unit is in the process of updating our policy and procedure manuals and i offered to be on the committee... i've never been on this type of committee before so i've got a lot to learn in this area.

we need to update these policies and procedures with evidence based practice whenever possible. i subscribe to several nursing journals in my area of practice, but am wondering:

how do i go about finding articles/studies demonstrating evidence based practice which i can bring to the table when we are updating these policies and procedures?

(i only have my associate degree and right now i'm wishing i had finished my bachelors degree because i would have taken a "nursing research" course and would most likely already know the answer to this question....

big sigh...)

by the way, one nursing organization i am a member of publishes their "evidence based practice guidelines for practice" on some things, but not all the things i'll be looking for. i've already got all of that organizations guidelines. i'm wondering how i can find more information about other policies and procedures and the most up to date and proper way to perform them.

i'm feeling like i've bit off a big bite here and am feeling a bit overwhelmed as you can imagine.

thank you very, very much in advance for any help you can offer me!!!

Here are a couple of sites that might help.

If you have a medical library at your facility you may have access to databases and the librarian can probably help you get started. Also you might check the sites for nursing specialties, depending on what you are looking for. If any of your co-workers are in school they have access to their libraries and datatbases.
