Help! Scared is that a bad sign for a new job?

The full details are in the post "short notice interview" But basically I just got offered and accepted the position for clinical review RN for an imaging company dealing mostly with PET scans. My only patient contact will be by phone advising them how to prep and perhaps an ear to listen as they may be nervous/ or scared about what to expect what may be found.

I still relatively new with just under 2 years total patient care experience with LTC and now ortho. I'm burning out fast on the unit b/c of the very little help. We're the 1st one to have aids pulled and often work with one or none. And it's too nuts at times. I love the patient teaching but too many times feel I'm not doing the best for them and leave, frustrated b/c of not enough time. Physcially the nights and work on working with ortho patients is taking a major toll.

This will be Mon-Fri 9a-5p. The place seems friendly enough. But I'm scared I'm making a mistake! :uhoh3: Is this normal? Sometimes I wonder if I'll ever be totally happy and it's a feeling that just sucks. When I went to the hospital from LTC I was very excited as I wanted out of LTC very bad. Now....? Anyone felt the same? Help!!!!

You know what? Its just that you had been so excited about hospital nursing and it ended up being a let down. I really don't think you're missing anything. Just go with the new job. You probably will be happy to be a normal person again. Work on having a life once again. Enjoy!

Specializes in Psychiatry.

I was glad to get out of the hospital- I didn't lay awake worrying or not if I missed a medication, if my charting was accurate, if I gave the WRONG medication, etc. Too much stress for me.

I'm sure with time you'll adjust and do just great! Who knows, it may be stepping sound to bigger and better things! :D

All the best-

Thank you!

I woke up and I'm still scared! I need to put together my resignation letter and not looking forward to that. As much as there's bad where I am. They still really worked with me on certain things like my hours. I was hired to the hospital with 2/8's 2/12's, when I got flipped to this unit I had to work 5 8's and was miserable for 4 mos. They got me my 3 12's. That's been really nice considering it's hard flipping days/nights but that's expected. I really appreciate them doing that, I feel like now I'm letting them down.

My last day will be May 30th as the new place wants me ASAP and I told them I had to give 2 weeks notice. The new schedule just came out until mid June so no doubt someone or ones are going to get screwed with my leaving and I feel bad about that. Course they don't feel bad making us work short and likely this weekend when I work I won't have an aide, b/c that's the way it's been. So I guess I need to get over it!

Sounds like a nice job, congratulations! Run do not walk away from the

hospital setting. Give them your notice and work the 2 wks.

Staff and the hospital management will adjust.

Don't make the mistake many of us did and stay in a job too long because

we felt it would be unfair to others. Don't worry, be happy.:D

From your post it looks like you have given above and beyond in ortho on nocs.

Take care, and do something nice for yourself before the next job starts....

Best wishes!
