Help for a (hopefully) future nurse

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Hi everyone so my name is Hlumi, I'm 16 and I live in South Africa. In my top 3 dream jobs list there is nursing (it's actually at number 1) but I am stuck with a dilemma on that front. At school the sciences were never my best subject, I passed them but just barely and in regards to maths I am now taking Maths Literacy instead of Core maths. In grade 6 becoming a nurse was it for me, it was the one thing I wanted to do until I arrived at high school and began high school science and maths. I struggled a lot with those subjects and it made nursing seem like a far away dream which is why I ended up losing hope until my mother told me despite her failing science and maths she managed to make it into nursing school via a bridge gap programme. Is there anyone who can give me more info on the bridge gap programme? Is it a good way to get into nursing school? Is high school science important?

Thank you so much
