Hello everyone! So I'm thinking about applying to CRNA school at FSU in Panama City. I just wanted to ask everyone's opinions on how much experience I should have? By the time I apply I will have over a year experience, I work in a level 2 trauma icu, I will have my CCRN by the time I apply. Just wondering if I should wait or just go for it? The worst thing they can say is no!

I also graduated from FSU with my Bachelor's degree in nursing!

I would encourage you to apply. The only thing they can tell you is no. I may apply there depending on what I hear from other schools. Good luck!

Finished my application about a month ago. Ive applied to just about 20 schools, rejected by 13 thus far. Cum gpa 3.1 BSN 3.68 TNCC CCRN CEN MICN ENPC, 3 years ER 1 year ICU. Waiting to hear from Barry, USC, Oregon, Union, Rhode Island, FSU, National, and Loma Linda. My science gpa is pretty poor, i got three Cs in g chem and ochem, but i majored in molecular biology first so i have tons of science courses. GRE 310. I think i might have more luck next year.

how did you get all those recommendation letters?! especially from a manager?? I would apply to all the ones I qualify for but only hurdles are those annoying recommendation letters... especially since most schools ask from a nurse manager - well my nurse manager is out and about at all those meetings throughout the hospital because he is a big shot so he doesn't know my clinical skills as well as my charge nurse or even clinical nurse specialist... let alone the time to fill out recommendation letters...

I'm also annoyed at schools who ask recommendation letters from professors because i doubt any of my nursing school teachers remember me from almost 10 years ago and the classes I've brushed up on are online classes and the teachers there do not seem supportive in giving me recommendation letter.... ***frustrated***

but I'm glad you are able to send everything in - you must be very supported then

Has anyone noticed that the school's accreditation is due August 2020? If, for some reason, the school doesn't pass their accreditation, SRNAs at that time would be lost in limbo aka would not be able to finish their degree... is this something that is of concern to anyone? I am thinking of applying because I really want to go to this school but this is just something that's on my mind.....

As for recommendation letters, it was relatively easy. My nursing school professors were more than happy, as was my physics professor. I work in a large for profit HCA facility. We have a large management team that works in conjunction with the director, so there we no shortage of directors to choose from. It was a bit much asking for as many letters with as many schools that I've applied too. The worst part, I've yet to be extended an interview because I have just one year in ICU and my cumulative GPA isn't as competitive as my BSN gpa (3.1 vs 3.68). I don't know if your looking for advice, but mine would be to stop by your director's office a bunch. Most of the applications have short recommendations, just like 10 check boxes and a signature line. The others were simple online questionnaires. I would apply to every school you can. I have every other point:competitive GRE, every cert in the book, ICU experience, first generation college, bilingual, and I've been in healthcare at every level. Its far more difficult than I thought and wasting my director and my professor's time for a second year in a row is going to be embarrassing.

Got the email last week that we will know this week if we have an interview or not! Has anyone heard anything! So nervous!

I hope they let us know soon! I got an email too saying they’ve reserved dates from Jan 31st to feb 5th. It’s already the 16th! It’s going to cost a small fortune to fly to Florida with two weeks notice.

In the other forum, people were saying they received emails to schedule an interview already!! Makes me so nervous! I haven’t gotten an invite yet
