We come here to vent about our crazy, bad days at work. Lets hear some stories about your great day at work. Do you ever come home feeling good about your work day?

Thanks for starting this thread! I am in my junior year of RN and am reading Nursing Against the Odds (not a good combination of things to do at the same time). All of your post remind me of what I have to look forward to:)

I also want to thank you for these wonderful posts! As a student, I just wanted to hear about someone who actually enjoyed their job.

Thanks again!

Let me just say that I hated where I previously worked ortho/neuro, 8-10 pt load and I once said that if I hear "I asked for my pepsi ten minutes ago", I would strangle someone. Even in crappy working conditions I usually went home happy, feeling like I do something good for people regardless of whether they know it or not. Giving someone a bag of my popcorn because they are hungry and have no money or lending someone a tampon is not part of the job requirements :)The times that were the best was when a family member would hug me, latch on and say thanks for how good you were to my mom and how you kept calling the dr until her pain was under control. Or when I had my first "unexpected" death and the wife who was in her 80's that I hadn't seen before grabbed me and said "thank you, bobby wouldn't have wanted to live like he was and if he is with God now, I don't mind letting go", then his son who had left came back upstairs just to hug me and say you did everything you could, you are a great nurse. I'm glad you started this thread. Nursing students look here for advice and most of the time we are all complaining, we forget the times that we actually enjoy our jobs and forget to post about good things that have happened. I will do my best to post more positive so that newbies are worried that they have "made the wrong decision".
