Any Suggestions to help prepare for Nursing School?

  1. I'm planning to return to college next Fall (2001) to work on a BSN. I'm planning to do some self-study prior to that in courses I have to take, such as Chemistry and Anatomy & Physiology, to help me be on top of things when I start school. Does anyone have any suggestions for self-study or reading that would help prepare me to do well when I start nursing school?

Springhouse Notes has a myriad of books that can be used either as review or as a companion to your required books. It's all laid out in bullet form...easy to use. I believe there is an A&P one. I just finished my clinicals on the maternity ward and the Neonatal-Maternal Nursing was a real blessing. They're not too big...so they're easy to tote along with you at all times.Good luck!

    Dear Carol

I would encourage you to get any projects done before school starts. Are you planning on taking Chemistry and A & P with your nursing clinicals? If you are be prepared for a heavy load. Nursing school takes over most of your life. Be prepared for little social time. For Anatomy you can get a book at Barnes and Nobles or any large bookstore that will help you memorize the bones and muscles. The book is an actual coloring book that helps you memorize. That helped me. Good luck on your pursuit into nursing. It will be a lot of work but if nursing is what you really want to do it will be worth it.

    Blessings,
    Shantel
