12 hour shifts and daycare

My husband and I planning to start a family soon and I am trying to figure out what to do about daycare. The daycare centers in my area are open 6:00 or 6:30 am to 6:30 pm. We work 12 hour shifts and don't get off until 7:00 pm. My husband travels sometimes for his job and I don't what I would do when he wasn't there to pick up the baby. We don't have any family in the area to help out.

What do you do about daycare and 12-hr shifts? Thank you for your help!

Can you find hospitals with employee daycare? It's so tough with a family but can be done. I work part time 8-10-12 hour shifts and it works out now but my son is a teen now(oh the horror). When they are young it will be difficult. How about travel nursing. They sometimes have these things well thought out as incentives.

Maybe you could find a home based day care, a registered one.

I myself am resigning from a full time position because dh is going to be traveling due to his job. I plan to work prn and/or agency. I don't need the benefits though, I get them through dh's employment.
