Sick Kids or Mount Sinai?

I have a question to Toronto NICU nurses working in HSC or MSH. I am starting Perinatal ICU Program at George Brown College and will appreciate any information about NICU (L 2&3) @ HSC / MSH.

Re: Sick Kids or Mount Sinai?

I'm not from Canada, but I have heard of the Hospital for Sick Children. I used to watch this show on Discovery Health, I think, called Little Miracles or something along those lines. It was a show that followed babies/children and their families at that hospital. I know it's TV and everything, but it looked like a top notch institution with every pediatric specialty available. Very up-to-date on everything, and mabye ahead of it's time sometimes too.

EDITED TO ADD: It was called "Life's Little Miracles" and it was wonderful.

Re: Sick Kids or Mount Sinai?

I would stay away from Sick Kids. Mount Sinai is a way better place to work NICU, IMO. Sick Kids has all the wierd syndromes, more cardiac defects and surgeries, but I didn't like the atmosphere of the unit. They don't have any babies born at their hospital since there is no L&D. So, that means you get babies transfered in from everywhere and you will never get to go to a delivery yourself. Mount Sinai delivers around 7000 babies a year. I liked their unit, and mostly liked their staff (I met too many nasty people at Sick Kid's).
