Unhealthy habits/Facebook posts from friends/family that make you :( ?

I know it's NOT my job to police my friends and family... However,

My aunt just posted a photo of heavily carb-laden Chinese food plates that she (diabetic) and her husband (also diabetic) are about to enjoy. She does this all the time. I have told her this is dangerous and she needs to be careful, but now I'm just biting my tongue and hoping she doesn't get a nasty ulcer.

Also have a friend with a morbidly obese 5yo child that she buys 2 adult sized meals for (have witnessed this when I was in town to visit family... , I wondered what was causing it until I saw it first hand) . It's hard not to cringe when seeing photos, knowing how the parents feed him. Said friend does crossfit and eats healthily herself, but why stuff the child like that? Her other child is obese too. Have not said anything to this one.

Of course, there are the hoards of anti-vax friends... I just bite my tongue and move along.

Just curious what the rest of you encounter on facebook or even on a daily basis. Do you feel compelled to "educate", or are you like me and keep your mouth shut and wish you'd have said something?

It's not my business what other people eat and it's not their business what I eat. For relatives who are somewhat obnoxious, but not obnoxious enough for me to cut out of my life, I simply choose not to "follow" their posts. If I can't see it, it doesn't annoy me. Problem solved! ;)

Not my circus. Not my monkeys.

I was was just going to say the exact thing!

It was right there. You just STOLE it from my mouth! :angrybird1: :)

So, what exactly is it about those carb-laden Chinese meals that your diabetic family members are about to indulge in are giving you heartburn?

You can't police everything everyone does with their lives. Would you like someone scrutinizing your every decision? There are nurses that smoke, nurses who are obese.....people will only make a change in their lives when they make the decision themselves.

I've had to unfollow a lot of people who mainly post about how much they hate Hillary or Donald. I get sick of that tiring subject.

I generally find Facebook posts of people's meals ridiculously boring. I prefer pet videos, family photos, and interesting discussions. (Sadly, the latter is rare on Facebook).

Pardon my ignorance.

What is "Facebook" and why are people posting food on it??

Pardon my ignorance.

And what is ADN, ASN, CNA, LPN, RN, EMT-B, EMT-I, can you answer me that?

I don't give my opinion on someone's health/life choices unless directly asked.

People are people. I let it go unless someone asks me. There are things I do that others will have a different opinion. Live and let live.

I can't even educate my husband -- who despite his 150lb frame has a lot of obesity type comorbidities. Triglycerides and LDL are through the roof but he refuses meds, and is convinced that white rice is nature's perfect food. BP has been logged as high as 190s/100s; he refuses meds for that too. And he has sleep apnea but refuses a BiPAP.

Besides, I'm sure any diagnosed diabetic has been taught about simple carbs. I personally don't exercise enough.

Plus, I don't have time to get into it on Facebook. I like the posts I like, I ignore the ones I don't. Like the previous posters, it's not my circus, not my monkeys.
