USF Second Sequence BSN: Spring 2018

U.S.A. Florida

Published

Hi everyone,

I haven't found a thread for this yet so I thought I'd go ahead and make one!

I'm a current graduate student at USF with the hopes of getting into the Second Sequence BSN for Spring 2018. I also am also applying to UF (I made a topic for that a while back if anyone is applying there as well!!) although I have decided that USF is my top choice because I love it so much here.

Good luck to everyone applying, I look forward to speaking with all of you during this process.:)

Go Bulls! :nurse:

I am applying to the program as well! What were everyone's stats when applying to the program?

Does anyone know what the nursing interview consists of? Types of questions, etc?

All I know from attending info sessions is the interview is a blind interview (they don't know anything about you prior to it) and it's about 25-30 minutes long, consisting of 5-6 questions. They will consist of scenario questions, ethic questions and more. Ashley was kind enough to also warn us that the interviewers will not ask you to elaborate on points that you make (they stick strictly to their questions) so make sure you say everything that you want to say for each question and also always tie back your answers to nursing of course. :-) I'm gonna explore old forums and see if maybe I can find some example questions for us.

hi everyone! i also applied. I graduated from UF in the Spring and I also got into Miami. I'm really hoping to get into USF. Does anyone know what the average stats are of those who have gotten in?

Awesome, same here! I wish I knew offhand the stats though. They change every semester, depending on the applicant pool. I saw from reading old forums that stats can be all over the place. Some people didn't get in with perfect grades while people with lower GPAs in both overall ad pre reqs did... it seems the interview is a huge part of the decision... but then again you have to get offered an interview first. haha! If you happen to find average stats, please share if you can! :-)

I'm applying to USF as well. I can't afford to go anywhere out of this area so I am really hoping for USF. My pre req GPA is a 3.9 and my overall undergrad gpa is a 3.66. So we will see!

Welcome to the club :-) I also need to stay in the area. But wow, Awesome grades in my opinion (especially pre-reqs)! Are you a former USF student?

Nope, I went to school in South Carolina. I'm super nervous because I just want to get started and not keep waiting.

Cool! Don't be nervous! Your grades sounded good, so I definitely think you'll be invited to interview! But I feel you about waiting, I'm ready to get started too! I'm very anxious and I know everyone is. :) At least we now have a community of people so that we can chit chat during the process.

Did you have any luck finding example questions? I really hope I get invited for an interview. I'm trying to stay in the area - I can't really move at this time. I also like the idea of an accelerated program.

No I haven't, sorry! :( I would just google some from other schools as a practice, that may help. :)

Also, for those of you calculating their pre-req GPAs, I just found out something about this (quite disappointing news in my opinion...). The only pre-reqs they actually utilize in the pre-req calculations are: Microbio lecture, A & P 1 and 2 Lecture and Stats only. In addition, they only use first attempt grades (so if you took micro, got a C the first time then retook with an A... they're utilizing the C). I'm really bummed about this. :/
