May 29, '13I only thought it probably was a bad idea because some schools don't want you to send nothing they didn't ask for. but oh well :P

May 29, '13There is not a resume required for a USF College of Nursing application. So you are not missing anything. They also do not take references. I mean really, who submits a bad reference... all of them are always good so why bother. Volunteer hours are also not required to be documented. It can be something that is brought up within the essay.
The way that it works is, you are awarded points, overall GPA is 30%, your pre-req GPA is 30% and your essay is read by College of Nursing professors and they give it so many points that are worth 40% of your overall total. The applicants with the most points are offered spots in the program. -
May 29, '13Thank you for the information, PalmHarborMom. You made a good point. I brought up my volunteer and shadow experiences towards the end of my essay when it asked about relevant experience to nursing. I'm hoping for the best! Like you said, the wait is the hard part. I like how USF made the change in their admissions and required applicants to put in a writing sample. This way, applicants have a chance of separating themselves from the others and aren't just some "statistic" with regard to GPA only.

May 29, '13Reason I sent my records is because I mentioned my 400+ community serv. hours in my essay and I wanted them to see proof or thought that they might want to see it. But I'm hoping for the best

May 30, '13This is a little off topic, but I received my financial aid award package today and I received mostly loans. I believe IF I were to get into USF I would have to take out quite a bit of loans. I only received the pell grant and an assistance grant. The rest is subsidized and unsubsidized loans. Anyone else on the same boat? Are there any scholarships available?

May 31, '13OMG, my stomach totally dropped when I saw that SOAR emailed me lol. It was only to confirm that my prerequisites have been met and my status has been changed to COMMITEE. Now time for the wait.
If I get in I'll be so excited and honored but if I don't get the chance..well it is what it is...
. I'm going to wait to hear from USF before making any big moves about loans, immunizations and etc.
