Hello everyone,

I am interested in applying to the accelerated program for this upcoming year (2014). I am planning to start my application within the next few months and would like to hear from those who have already been accepted or are filling out an application as well. If you don't mind sharing your overall GPA, pre-req GPA and any helpful tips you would like to recommend when filling out the application. Although I am not limiting myself to the U, this is the university I have my heart set on so any information is greatly appreciated. My name is Steffany and I am also applying to the acc. BSN program. Is anyone else a UM grad? I just graduated in Spring and I am finishing all my prereqs this semester (Fall) at Miami Dade College. I applied in August as a readmit. My UM GPA is not that high and unfortunately they don't look at overall GPA is you are a UM student; but I have A's in majority of my prereqs so far. Though I have some things that will hold me back from getting accepted I hope they overlook them and give me a chance.

Hi Everyone. I am trying to apply for both Spring and Summer 2014. Do you guys know when Summer term opens? I don't see it under the Common App.

The common app has specific dates available for each term. If you look at the FAQs in the ABSN page, you should find it.

Hi,

I haven't applied yet. I think I'm going to go for summer of '14 and the deadline for that is March. My overall GPA isn't great either and to be honest that is the only thing I feel is holding me back. However, my pre-req GPA is 3.7. I decided to take some classes in order to raise my gpa so we'll see how that goes. Have you applied yet? Best of luck :)

I believe you can only apply for one semester at a time.

I am right there with you, the anticipation is almost unbearable :-) Do you know when they will be sending acceptance letters? January is not that far away. Are you already living in Miami or will you have to move if accepted?

I also applied to this program and submitted my application about 3 weeks ago but I heard there was a technical problem with common app. Apparently they had not sent our applications to UM, until like two weeks ago. UM knew about the applicants and their submition date but the completed application was not available to them, so that is why the acceptance letters will be a little late.

My gpa is also around the 3.3 and I have BS in Biology so lets hope for all of us to get in!

I too am applying for spring 2014.. However I am considering the summer as well. I have 2 more pre req to take before I transfer. are anyone of you married or have children? I recently got married, a couple of months to be exact. I was just wondering if there are any other newlyweds or mothers applying to this program.

I applied for the spring 2014 term too and I am also married with a baby. I got married almost 2yrs ago and after a few month a surprise arrived to my life that made me a dad and although is the best thing ever! is has not been easy and it will not be once we start the program but not impossible. I have a coworker that did it with a kid on board, passed with good grades and now she works as an RN and teaches too. So it is very possible!! good luck and I hope we get accepted, by the way do you live in miami?

I am also applying for spring 2014 accelerated bsn...I'm applying to other schools as well, but have my heart set on The U!

I am changing careers as well...finally managed to gather the courage to follow my dreams.

My GPA isn't that high; between 3-3.5 and I received my Bachelor's in 2010. Did any of you already submit your application?
