UNF Accelerated BSN Summer 2013

U.S.A. Florida

Published

The deadline to apply for UNF's Accelerated BSN program beginning Spring 2013 will be here before we know it (January 15, 2013), which is why I wanted to go ahead and start this topic now. Many of us are taking the TEAS V soon (if we have not already) and finishing up prerequisites (if needed), so I am sure we all have some questions or information to share with each other.

sorry it took so long to respond to your questions about homebase (Spring Break started yesterday after class!) Homebase 1st semester was something like 30 hours. Other semesters are 16 hours spread out throughout the entire semester. Each homebase is different.... so remember to be flexible. I have no idea what the 5th semester is like, because I'm not there yet. Being flexible is important. Things change. You are usually given several days notice at the minimum. (I get my work schedule 1 week ahead of time, and I've only had 1 small issue come up, and it was an optional review our professor was having). The first semester you are crazy Mon thru Thursday, and sometimes Friday or Saturday (but not usually). Other semesters seem to be class Monday, Friday, and either Clinicals on Tuesday or Wednesday. (But trust me... other things come up... I'm usually on campus 4 days a week, sometimes 5).

I would choose UNF again EVERYTIME! I can't imagine a more supportive environment!

Thanks Mrsdatty - I appreciate your comments :)

After much careful thought and consideration, I have decided to accept a position in the accelerated nursing program at JU. I have officially declined my spot in the accelerated program at UNF. I hope this makes a well-deserving student on the waiting list very happy.

Finally, thanks to everyone on this message board for your helpful insights and advice. Best of luck to you all in your academics and future careers!

Best wishes to you. I don't think you could make a wrong choice between the two schools.

Looks like I'm going to be seeing some of you at orientation after all. I got the call offering me a spot this morning!

Is there a smiley for *walking on sunshine*? Because there should be!

I have been thinking about you this morning, hoping/praying that you would get your spot this time around! So, so happy for you! I will see you on the FB page

Congrats on making a decision!!! Best of luck to you!

Congratulations, honeybadger! That's awesome news! I have a few questions for some of you. I was using a yahoo email account, which no longer seems to be working. Unfortunately, I think I missed out on a few important emails. I received my orientation packet, but did not get the email with the VECHS waiver or the information for the certifiedbackground.com website. I was told I could find these forms on the facebook page since I didn't receive them in my email. Is there another facebook page aside from the UNF Nursing Admissions one? I didn't see them posted anywhere on it. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance!

What's your email? I can forward those to you.

Gallop245 - for most computers you can hit Ctrl & "F" to bring up a search/find box. Type in VECHS and it should take you to the posting you want to see. Of course you need to be on the FB page when you do it :)

Honeybadger - That would be awesome! Can you forward them to [email protected]? Thanks so much!

Juliesnow - I will try that in just a second to see if it works for me; thank you!

Juliesnow - How do I find the group FB page? I feel like a big dummy but I haven't been able to find it. Thanks!!

P.S. I am still looking for a roommate; I would love to hear from anyone else who is looking for one as well!
