  1. If you need your CPR certification I would! (That's what I'll be doing there). Let me find out about the other stuff. I don't see why you can't get it done, but let me check with Dr. Bloom or Beth tomorrow.
  2. Congrats to all of you that were accepted...good luck to all of you on the wait list! The nursing lounge is in building 39a on UNF campus. (The room across the hall from where you all signed in for your interviews). I look forward to seeing all of you soon. (Hopefully I will see some of you at the health fair)
  3. UNF is ranked #8 nationally.... you can get more info in the nursing lounge.
  4. My only request is that if you don't want to go to UNF...please let them know ASAP...there are plenty of other people who would LOVE and deserve your spot!
  5. as soon as someone declines a spot they will start calling.
  6. They never release where you are on the waitlist. Just keep your phone close...
  7. I'm not sure on this....but it seemed like our cohort was denials first, then waitlist, then acceptance. (This is just a guess!)
  8. Please don't get discouraged if put on waitlist. Some classes go through almost the whole list. You never know what will happen!
  9. My wings should be updating at some point today.... just try and relax (or study)
  10. I feel all of your pain! I was there not that long ago. You all looked great at your interviews and I enjoyed talking with all of you (although only briefly). The quickest way to see if accepted is to check MyWings (most of you know that). Postings will take a little longer because of the accelerated students. I confirmed that all your letters were sent this AM. Good Luck to everyone! I'm sure all of you will make it (and if you don't please apply in the fall). UNF nursing really is a wonderful family to be a part of!
  11. sorry it took so long to respond to your questions about homebase (Spring Break started yesterday after class!) Homebase 1st semester was something like 30 hours. Other semesters are 16 hours spread out throughout the entire semester. Each homebase is different.... so remember to be flexible. I have no idea what the 5th semester is like, because I'm not there yet. Being flexible is important. Things change. You are usually given several days notice at the minimum. (I get my work schedule 1 week ahead of time, and I've only had 1 small issue come up, and it was an optional review our professor was having). The first semester you are crazy Mon thru Thursday, and sometimes Friday or Saturday (but not usually). Other semesters seem to be class Monday, Friday, and either Clinicals on Tuesday or Wednesday. (But trust me... other things come up... I'm usually on campus 4 days a week, sometimes 5). I would choose UNF again EVERYTIME! I can't imagine a more supportive environment!
  12. hello
  13. Homebase..... The program is very stressful. You have tests, quizzes, required reading, and then you have to stop and work in your homebase for an afternoon. I can understand why some people find it frustrating, but I really enjoy every minute and consider it a break from school work. There are several different areas that students are assigned to. For example in my area one afternoon we helped to test some of Jacksonville's homeless for TB. We give flu shots to low income and homeless members of our community. We volunteer at health clinics and take vital signs and accu-checks (blood sugar levels). I find it completely rewarding. It's a small taste of nursing in our community of Jacksonville. The first semester is a little more, but in later semesters it may only be 16 hours that you have in homebase. This can easily be done in two afternoons and single Saturday. I don't find that too much at all! Hope this helps!
  14. Hello everyone! Congrats to those of you that have been accepted... and good luck to those that have been waitlisted....(many of you may be called, so be ready). I am currently in the UNF nursing program. I can not say enough about how wonderful it is! Our professors are all there to help you be the best you can be! It may not be easy (trust me it's not) but it is completely worth it! I will hopefully see all of you soon!
