Thinking about Keiser University, WPB

U.S.A. Florida

Hello All!

First off, I would like to say that I am new to allnurses.com, so, please go easy on me. :)

I would like to start off with a bit of my background, just for understanding purposes.

(Not intended to bore people).

I'm engaged with 3 young children; 4, 1.5, and 4 months. I have completed my A.A. degree from Palm Beach State College. I have met with an advisor at KU and went over the whole 'shpeel' about the general education requirements and the nursing major courses, accreditation, application process, interview, financial aid overview, orientation, etc. The advisor told me with my A.A. degree, the general ed. requirements are met, and with a GPA at a 3.34 I would go straight into the core classes, after the dean of nursing reviewed my unoffical transcript and TEAS scores.

My TEAS scores include: My adjusted score (KU Requirement)

Reading: 97.6% (76%)

Math: 83.3 (75%)

Science: 70.8% (56%)

English: 83.3% (70%)

I recieved a phone call from my advisor about a week later and that the dean reviewed everything and I would go straight into the nursing major courses for the May of 2014 enrollment (my choice). GREAT! However, after mixed opinions, reviews, and topics, both good and bad from ALL OVER (internet, word of mouth, other nurses), I started to get worried and began second guessing my decision.

My question is in regards to those that are thinking about, are attending, graduated, in the work force from Keiser University in West Palm Beach. I know I have plenty of time (or do I?) to start the application process, the resume, letters of recommendation, nursing writing assignment, and faculty interview; all while doing scholarship hunting and soon to start of community service.

Another thing is this "waiting list?" I never heard of this until the other day as someone mentioned it. Any truth to this? Any criteria I should do to make sure I get in.

I want to make sure what I am doing is best for my family, seeing as this is a major step in my and their future. Any advice, information, opinions, and/or experiences would be great! Anything to look forward to, Heads up, or whatever I'll take it!

I appreciate it in advance.
