So I basically had 2 advisors tell me...

U.S.A. Florida

...That unless you have a 4.0, you have a slim to none chance of getting into the RN-generic track at PHCC :-( I have a 3.71 only because I took a 4 credit Psych and got a B- about 8 years ago. And they do not let you retake anything unless it's a C or lower. Everything else is an A. Even if I get a perfect on the entrance exam, that still is only 50% and they both suggested I look at other options. So, do I:

A)Continue this course and apply anyway. If I choose this, I will be finishing pre-reqs this fall and applying for Fall 2010

B) Apply for the LPN program, start Jan '10. This is a year program and I'm not sure if I could drop out IF by some small miracle of God, I got into the RN prgram in fall. If I did the LPN, it is a year and then another year bridge to RN program.

C) Stack up this fall on other pre-reqs for the other 2 local schools and apply. One is HCC but as I am not a Hills. resident, and guessing that they are as packed as PHCC, I doubt my chances are any better though. The other is USF which offers a 2nd bachelors -accelerated. But I don't want another bachelors - I eventually want my Masters! Plus, USF costs quite a bit more and takes 3 years.

For the LPN, all I have to do is take the NET and apply by Sept 15th. But it only accepts something like 48 students over 2 campuses. The RN program admits about 100 over 2 campuses. I think the recent class for the RN program had over 400 applicants. :-( Not good odds at all.

What do you think? TIA!

What will you GPA be after you get As on all the prereqs you still have to take?

Does the LPN-RN bridge require work experience? If it doesn't, then doing the LPN and the bridge may actually get you to your RN faster than the RN program.

Personally, I would apply for both and keep your fingers crossed.

Switrly - 3.71 is with 1 current A, 3 must-get A's this fall and the B from psych.
