Hey everyone, well I just got my license and been working at a nursing home for about 2 1/2 months (I worked there for 2 yrs as a CNA before/while I was going to school also), I work night shift and it seems no matter what the nurses coming on 7-3 just complain about everything. I know I'm new and got alot to learn and I do all my job duties and occasionally ask ?'s if I've never done something before then I do it after I understand and alot of the times we work short on 11-7 so I ask 7-3 things and they just act like I'm the most idiot nurse they've ever met. Now besides them I have gotten several compliments about my performance and how quick I'm catching on so IDK I'm just frustrated that a few specific ppl are treating me like I'm incompetent, I didn't come out of the womb with LPN on my forehead and either did they, is this normal and should I just continue what I'm doing and just shrug it off, because right now because of a few ppl I'm really just wanting to go somewhere else and yes I know I'll have that problem other place, maybe they're just treating me that way because I was their CNA for 2 years and now they have to treat me like an equal? I just know I'm about ready to leave a job I like if this doesn't quit. I've talked to one of them but still feels like getting the cold shoulder. I hate feeling like when I leave in the morning that I'm gonna get a call for the DON over something rediculous because they don't like me, I'm sure you know how I feel we all gotta go through this right? Any suggestions on how any one else handled the 'rookie' aspect of all this? Thanks :)

I get this same reaction with some night nurses. Like if I have to pass off a Picc dressing or something, it is a big ordeal. I usually just stare them right in the face and tell them nursing is a 24 hr job.

you work 3-11 huh? i understand things gotta be passed off cuz there just ISN'T enough time to do everything and if there is you're 1 lucky you know what LOL.. it's just an everyday thing and it's like even if i dont leave something for them i get these side glances, im gonna try just to shrug it off i just dont get the whole nurses eat their young thing, i mean what's the point? it would be much more condusive to a work environment and patient care if we just said ok i'll take care of it until it becomes a problem that someone is just flat out lazy and im far from that
