by L&Dhopeful Jul 18, '11Hi! I'm almost 2/3 of the way through my Accelerated BSN program! I'm researching potential hospitals where I can do my 6-week internship towards the end of my program. I'd really like an L&D unit in Florida that is supportive of students and enthusiastic about teaching! (I've had and heard of some unfortunate experiences with preceptors). Preferably, I'm interested in a hospital with a low c-section rate, one that is supportive of breastfeeding, and one with midwives attending some of the births. Morton Plant Mease Hospital in Clearwater seems appealing. Has anyone done an L&D internship there? Can you tell me how the experience was with your preceptor?? How about St. Joe's in Tampa? How supportive is the staff in general? Thanks for your help!!!

- Jul 19, '11 by FLOBRNBayCare runs thier own L/D internship at St Joes. It is a 6 month program I believe and only starts once a year. I would imagine they are very supportive.
