Know of any nursing schools in or near Debary or Duland, FL??

Hi. I have a cousin who just moved to Debary and she is looking for nursing schools in or near the area. Does anyone know of any? She is also not far from Deland.

Any help would be appreciated as she is new to the state and I know nothing about Florida lol. I am in Maryland!

Thanks!

Seminole Community College is located in Altamonte Springs, just about 20 miles down I-4 (toward Orlando). I have friends in Debary and Deltona who went to SCC. I just graduated from SCC as well.

In the other direction is Daytona Beach Community College. It's about 30 miles up I-4 in the other direction. I believe SCC has a better reputation though. In fact, I know a student who lives and works in Daytona and still went to SCC instead.

Swirlything - thank you. Do you know of any tech/trade schools that offer LPN program?

According to the Florida Board of Nursing website, Daytona Beach Community College offers the Practical Nursing program at their West (Deland) campus. Can't get much closer than that! Good luck!!

Really, I wondered about SCC. I don't know much about it but a nurse on my floor teaches and does clinicials there, and another one who lost her job at my school is there also. Both of these nurses were/are sub par to say the least. One was a 1st semester instructor who couldn't teach her way out of a hole, and her clinicals were worse. The other one, lets just say she is called the non-chalant nurse. When I found out both of these people taught at Seminole I wondered about the program, and caliber of professor. It's just two out of many but still.

My statement was based on what I've heard in the hospitals from staff, that they prefer to see SCC grads coming as opposed to grads of, well, some other schools in the area, DBCC included. Obviously that is only anecdotal.

I don't doubt that there are some slackers on the faculty. I had a rotten clinical instructor one semester when I was there, but for the most part had GREAT instructors. And I have to tell you that I'm DYING to know which nurse it is that you're talking about that teaches at SCC. But I certainly wouldn't ask you to name names in a public forum.
