Has ANYONE attended Everest University??

U.S.A. Florida

Hi everyone!

I have spent the past year struggling to get into an Accelerated second degree nursing program. I was turned down by 6 different schools now (for various reasons) but have found that you need to have around a 3.75 in order to qualify for an accelerated second degree prgm.

I then began pursuing the CC colleges around here and found despite the 4 pre reqs I have already taken, I am still lacking in 4-6 more classes.

I then found Everest and Stratford University, both of which base admission on your TEAS and/or HESI scores as well as overall GPA.

I am at the point where I don't want to waste anymore time "waiting" to get in somewhere and just want to start, but there is a 20K price difference between the schools mentioned above and the CC.

I have a good chance of getting into both schools, but don't know what to do if I actually get in!!

Hello tamadrummer!

So where do you work? I'm in Tampa/St. Pete and attempting to find a decent RN program-I have a 3.4GPA and can't wait years...

So are you going to further your education? Any advice would be appreciated.....

Specializes in 1st year Critical Care RN, not CCRN cert.

I work in the pcu at zephyrhills. I had a job before I took my nclex. Everest has an excellent reputation in the hospitals because they are tough. Yes I will be going further. No sense in slowing down now. When I was in the program I was aggravated because it was so hard but now that it is over and I am working I am thrilled that it was so hard.

thank you for your assistance...tamadrummer

i'm going to visit everest this week-i have been studying the hesi for the past two weeks ...my only other question is i see i will have to do a writing assignment as well, correct?

congrats on passing your nclex and starting your career!!!

Well thanks and good luck. When you go, tell them Brian from the April 2012 cohort says hey and give you a break. Lol.

Go online and research hesi entrance exam. Study all the parts it tells you exist. It's all important. When you go in to test, realize that stressing is not going to help at that time it's too late to be stressing. Just breath and answer the best you can.

I have...I bought the HESI review and have been studying for two weeks

I was told it was on math, grammar, reading, and vocab..

Also Cher says hi

Cher is great! She will be checking on you throughout the entire school. I took a different entrance exam. It was called the PSB-RN. If it is similar to that, you need a very well rounded knowledge base. Anatomy/physiology all the way through vocabulary and spelling. Again just relax and trust yourself. Yolanda is wonderful and won't make you nervous at all.

Thanks..but I haven't studied the science portion-on the exam review it states to study only if Anatomy is a pre-requ to be accepted into the program..so I'm assuming I won't be tested on it since it's part of the curriculum...

sigh....I do not understand why it's such a big secret..

Thanks I didn't have Cher as my advisor...but I met her..she really thinks very highly of you

Anatomy is a pre-req you just take it during school. Study it, I was tested on it. The program is fast, you take pre-reqs one quarter before the class they are required for you to take it. So a&p1 before funementals of nursing 1 and so on and so forth. The RN program is serious business at that school and when you are done you will be happy you went there.

I PASSED!!!! Woo hoo....wow the test was long..I'm glad I studied Anatomy...

Thank you so much...now I have to prepare for the intervew.

if Everest doesn't work out, come talk to ITT Tech (Breckinridge +School of Nursing) in St Pete. They cost about the same. I'll be starting my second quarter there on Sept 17th and I love the nursing instructors. Plus it's only 2 days/week and in two years I'll be an RN. They use the HESI too so bring a copy of your test scores. I think they still have a few openings for the next quarter, or at least they did as of last Monday.

At Breckinridge you start right into the nursing classes in your first quarter.. for example in my second quarter I will have NUR 110 and A&P I and I think my elective will be either psych or sociology. I don't know yet for sure which general class I will be taking but both are part of the program. I transferred in a couple of English and Math college credits from a previous college, so I only have to take English 102 and Statistics later on.
