FIU BSN admission

U.S.A. Florida

Published

Hi, I am interested in applying next year to FIU's BSN program. I have my associates now and have all the prereqs except for the two that need to be taken at FIU itself...

I was wondering if anyone has any info on what exactly FIU accepts regarding GPA (not the minimum, but what kind of students are they actually accepting?)...

Any other information about the program would be great also..

hey carriexg

i graduated from fiu nursing program this month- may:w00t:. being that you are looking to gain your associates right now you will be applying for the rn-bsn track of the nursing program of fiu, i was apart of the generic rn track so i can only shed light from that perspective. acceptance into the nursing program of fiu is highly competitive as i beleive all other nursing programs are. alot of the req. have changed since i've been accepted into the program such as the hesi entrance exam requirement & acceptance once per year. .

to answer your gpa question- as i said entrance is competitive so its based on the pool of applicants during that specific time. the highest gpa gets 1st place and so on until about max. amount of students have been selected. i would say that a safe gpa is at least a 3.3 but keep in mind your sciences are computed separetly from your cum gpa.

as far as 'what type of student' im not sure exactly what this means...but in my nursing class there were alot of 'different' types of students...all they really care about is that your application proves that you can academically handle the program because it is a rigorous program :/ if that helps..

o. also i do remem. a friend getting accepted into the rn-bsn program at fiu after completeing her aa elsewhere & she did tell me that basically all her classes were online..

good luck!! hope i helped.

I have a question people say that if you fail any science you are automatically rejected from the nursing program is that true? I got a D once in Anatomy lecture and got a B when I retook it is this really going to be an issue? Thank you.

Hi Jennybel,

unfortunately yes, that is true. For consideration for admission into FIU school of nursing you must pass all pre req. science courses with a minimum of a C. I actually knew a few people who did not pass a science and had to look into other schools
