Have been hearing that BC will be requiring math prerequisite and may be dropping Chemistry pre-req for nursing program for students starting Jan 2013. Please post any specific information you have received from the school. I have emailed them but have not heard back. The people on the phone are not exactly sure what's going to happen.

Does anyone know which hospitals each campus uses for clinicals?

Does anyone know which hospitals each campus uses for clinicals?

South goes to the different Memorial hospitals and Central goes to Westside Regional and Broward General. North goes to Holy Cross, North Broward, and a few others I can't remember. I asked around a couple of days ago :)

Thanks Stephanie :)

Hi I'm a nursing student at North Campus. I know its stressful and nerve racking to see if you've been accepted. A word of advice if admissions say you'll know by the 15th you will know on the 15th and not a day before. Also if your not accepted don't. Worry they always do a second round of letters are sent out two weeks after the 15th. Many students either defer or decline their seats.

When you do get accepted my best advice is buy th Perry and Potter fundamentals of Nursing book. Out of pocket don't wait for financial aid. Its a lot of reading in th program and if you can get a headstart then ready set go! It will be worth every dollar once you start! Exam 1 covers vital signs, health assessment, saftey, hygiene, documentation and nursing process! Told you its a lot! Get the book start reading you'll be glad you did!!!!! Another nugget of advice testing is not anything you've done before its all critical thinking! Do the review questions at the end of the chapters! :) good luck!!

Anyone attending central?

I plan on attending central campus, even though I hear it's the hardest lol Does anyone know how exactly it is that they notify us if we got accepted? Do they mail us a letter or an e-mail?

Decision letters are sent to your Broward College email account. They do not mail letters via US Mail.

Deferrals are no longer accepted for any of the health science programs. This started with all August 2012 classes. If a student does not accept their seat, they are required to apply for the next start.

Wow. But there's hope yet some people will decide not to start based on program cost, lack of aid, or whatever reason which will open more seats. Be hopeful and good luck! If not Jan then May just read while you wait!

Yes, from what I was told when I called, they are no longer taking deferrals. However, if students decline their seats, they will review those students who were not accepted due to space and invite new applicants to join the class. Its a hard waiting game. Especially for those of us who applied back in July. :banghead::)

*NOTE: NEW and readmitted students interested in applying to the college and being reinstated in the Nursing program must have completed a general education math requirement (area 5) and Microbiology (MCB2010&L). This change impacts the application periods for the January 2013 cohorts and beyond.Currently enrolled Nursing student who have not broken catalog and seek to apply to the Nursing program, and who are admitted prior to July 1, 2013, will not need to meet general education math requirement (area 5) and Microbiology (MCB2010&L) requirement. CHM1032 will remain a required pre-requisite. However, students who are not yet eligible to apply prior to July 1, 2013, and those who applied and were unable to qualify for a seat/admission by the same date, will be required to complete a general education math requirement (Area 5) and Microbiology prior to submitting or resubmitting their application. This is what I found on Broward college frequently asked question page* this should clear up a lot for everyone that is confused on the requirements for 2013

Thank you for the advice (:What edition of the Perry and Potter book do we need? And I notice you mentioned what to study but do you know what chapters exactly ?Thanks again!

Freaking ouuut...

I think I'm going to need to start the dreaded Financial Aid process just in case I do get accepted. I read in other threads that they make you pay for everything as early as November!
