Broward College hopeful for May 2013 Nursing Program

U.S.A. Florida

I know there is a lot of confusion going around with the new requirements for the BC nursing program so I wanted to start a thread for those of us finishing prerequisites and applying in January. I'm in the Core class now, but other than that I'm finished with everything else and getting very excited to start next year!

I am in plantation and still thinking of going to North because I heard people liked that one better. So if that's true the extra drive would be worth it.

Does anyone know the full name of the Potter's book we will need. and the book for math for medical students. thinking of ordering them on amazon to get a head start hopefully.

Btw, any of you thinking or wanting to go to North campus. PM me for link to FB group so we can discuss and plan meetups etc easier.

I ordered the potter book today. Here's the isbn: 978-0-323-07933-4 for math I got a book from BN for $20, it's not the one we need but I didn't want to get too many because they up and change the editions so often.

Thanks for the isbn. There were a few packages of the same book so I wasn't sure which to get.

Did you buy the book suppliment Nursing Skills Online, 2.0?

I completed all the certification pre-reqs.

Just need to pick up shoes, and some other medical equipment that we need. might check amazon as well for decent prices.

I still have not received my BC student card or student ID. I know what email said we needed a re-application form to be brought to the orientation but, I am pretty sure I already applied and was accepted as it was needed to take all these courses. gonna check on that this week.

Other than supplies what are people doing in the mean time for the nursing program until orientation? Thinking of reviewing my anatomy, medical terminology, and looking over that Perry & Potter book.

Your welcome. I think I got just the book but it may have the online supplement. I know when I returned to the college I had to go to one of the offices to get a new ID card. In the meantime until the program I plan on reading the first 6 chapters of perry and potter (I've seen numerous posts about that being the first exam), I plan on working on my nursing math skills and conversions, reviewing A&P, and enjoying my time with my little man before the madness begins (and the I'm a horrible mommy starts.) did you get my PM about supplies?

One month to the preadmission session! Who's excited?!?

Can't wait!

Nervous! Trying to make sure everything is done before hand.

Making sure I have student ID, correct shoes, medical supplies, books, then study and refresh material before start of class.

I've heard from people it's a really intensive program, which is made worse since our semester is shorter.

I'm thinking of going on Sat morning for CPR at Paramount training. Is anyone else going that day?

I have CPR on the 24th but through BC. How much is paramount?

It says $49. I'm guessing the AHA has an additional fee.

Hey classmates... I did portion one of the CPR training online which cost $29 and now I'm doing portion two which is a "skills test" in Sunrise at Team Health Institute. That cost me another $30. I'll give you feedback tomorrow..

Ps...all my cards are in for Central Campus....who's with me? KCOOPS? Christopher? Deena? Who else?

I'm in!!! Looking forward to it :) hey I hope ur CPR is AHA.
