If you get your associates in nursing and pass the boards, then you will be an RN. There is also the option of going to a university and getting your bachelors degree, a BSN. Either way, you will still be an RN when you pass the boards. Check with your local community colleges and find out what general courses you need to take before any of the core nursing classes. You should speak with an advisor at the college and find out what you need to do. Many schools are different, so you should check with the advisor to find out what their requirements are. Good luck to both of you! :wink2:

Knowing what area you are in helps us point you in directions, step 1 would be to find the nearest college offering nursing programs and go in and talk to an advisor face to face, then hit the financial aid office, there will most likely be a minimum of 4 classes before you are eligible to apply for acceptance to the program, usually it's English I, A&P I, Psych, a math class, there are a few out there that require Chem, bachelors programs take longer and have more pre-requisite classes, I went through the local community college for my ADN so I'm not real sure about the BSN programs
