Anyone know the requirements to get into Daytona State College ADN?

I just took my TEAS today and barely passed (overall score 66%, math 63.3 %, and reading 69%). My GPA is 3.79 and I was wondering if DSC looks solely at your GPA or both your GPA and your TEAS scores. I'm really nervous now that when I apply to the program next month, that my TEAS scores aren't good enough.

This was taken directly from the DSC website:

For students having the TEAS version 4, the following criteria must be met:

  • Associate Degree Nursing (RN program): TEAS AITS score at the 75th percentile or better. In addition, the applicant must have a TEAS score of 65% or better in both mathematics and reading.
  • Practical Nursing program applicants: TEAS AITS score at the 65th percentile or better. In addition, the applicant must have a TEAS score of 60% or better in both mathematics and reading.

For students having the TEAS version 5, the following criteria must be met for both ADN and LPN:

  • TEAS AITS overall score at 59th percentile or better. Applicant must also have a 63rd percentile or better in mathematics, and 69th percentile or better in reading.

You can probably gather more information about this program from the Florida Nursing boards.

I know that you have to have a certain percentile in those areas, but it doesn't state on DSC's website if you need to just pass the TEAS or if they look for higher scores, along with a good GPA. I saw on one of these threads that some people have "heard" that you just have to pass the test and your GPA is the most looked at when the administrators decide on a candidate for the program.

Your competitiveness is relative and dependent on a variety of factors. How many applicants does the program accept? How many people typically apply? I would not listen to heresay regarding admission requirements. I would meet with a program adviser. They would be able to provide you with the most insight.
