It's going to be overwhelming at first and frankly I'm surprised they are taking new grads in that specialty. However, it's not unheard of. You're going to have your hand held for awhile because life and death changes by the second in critical care. They want to make sure you don't kill someone. The benefit? You're going to learn an amazing amount of information and ideally become a super nurse! :)

As I get ready to finish up my nursing program I accepted a position in a specialty field. I recently accepted a position in the Neuro critical care unit in a trauma hospital. What do you think are the pros and cons of a new nurse working in a specialty field.
