Hello All,

Now that you've all graduated nursing school, would you mind giving me a little insight? Of all the nursing courses you have completed, which one was most difficult for you? Whether it was just a difficult topic to grasp? Or it was just a really intense, deep topic. Or it just had so much material, that you needed assistance to comprehend it all? Whatever the reason, let me know which courses were difficult for you and why.

Also... of all the courses you have taken, which ones would you say were you favorite or best? Why were they your favorite or your best courses taken?

What about clinicals? Which were the most difficult and which were the most easy? Why were they difficult or easy?

I am starting nursing school to work on my BSN this July 2009 and I would like a little insight on what to expect. I'm also picking up books to help me get a little head start on things (I love reading anything and everything medically related).

Thanks so much! :wink2:

I think the hardest class by far for me was Peds. I hated it. Kids are cool, but that class was way too much in your head with all that developmental ********!

Specializes in Pediatrics.

My worst grade was A+P 2. Med-surg was also difficult - our Med-surg class was set up poorly - it was taught by 2 profs, and was really confusing.

Microbiology was probably my third hardest, but I didn't have a book, so that's probably why, lol.

Med Surg I and II...by the time I took Med Surg III, I had been in the clinical setting enough to where it actually "clicked" and I finally understood it. I absolutely HATED med surg. Peds, OB/L&D and Psych were by far the easiest. Pharm was pretty simple, too. I now work in Peds.

I found Maternity to be really hard - there was so much I just couldn't keep straight in my head, like the menstrual cycle, hormones, all the STDs, and that damn FUNDUS!! I could never remember where it was supposed to be! In the end, though, I got past all that - and just in time for my best friend to have her baby (emergency C section, baby turned breech at the last minute). She invited me to watch the whole process of her baby boy being born and share the thrills! It was the perfect end to the whole maternity experience, seeing someone I care about go through all that, and it gave me tremendous respect for childbirth and nursing.
