Sheri Taylor workshop r/o

Nursing Students Excelsior

If all goes according to plan I will be attending Sheri Taylor's workshop in atlanta in Aug.! For anyone who has attended this workshop did you rent a car ? Also, anyone here planning on the August workshop?

Hi there. I attended her workshop twice (ugh!) so here's my routine. I fly into Atlanta. Used one of those airport van services to go to the hotel Sheri recommends near her workshop. That ride takes about 2 hours (lots of other drop off's) and costs about $40. Once you get to the hotel, you are set. The hotel provides a shuttle to and from the workshop, and her workshop is within walking distance to a strip mall with restaurants (try the deli!), a Charbucks(!), and a grocery store. Also, there will be other students there with cars who are always willing to give you a ride somewhere if you need. If you want, you can even walk to and from the strip mall/workshop and the hotel. The only difficulty with walking is there is lots of car traffic, the is not a sidewalk the entire way, so it can be a bit dangerous. It isn't far however.

On the other hand, if you don't mind the expense having a car is MUCH easier. In and out of the airport is a breeze. Traffic is horrible but that's typical. You have the freedom to explore if you choose. I must admit, Sheri keeps you pretty busy and only if you arrive a day early will you have the time and energy to roam. You will be busy with homework on Friday night. She usually provides a cookout on Saturday night, and you will leave Sunday late afternoon.

The hotel is wonderful (rooms have a flat screens, full kitchen, and fireplace), and the staff is very accommodating to Sheri's students. I just wish they provided an airport shuttle.

So I guess it's six of one, half dozen of the other. If you want ease and independence, rent a car. If you want adventure and to save a few bucks, use public transportation. You will be fine with either.

Have fun!
