Question about Excelsiors enrollment fee???

Nursing Students Excelsior

Published

I've seen countless times, people letting others know the enrollment fee for the adn lpn to rn program to be 895 $, I went on the excelsior site and it stated this:

Undergraduate enrollment

Excelsior College offers two options for undergraduate enrollment.

Excelsior Course Option: This option is designed for students who need at least 12 Excelsior College credits before graduation. Enrollment fee:*$395.

Multi-Source Option:*This is best suited for students who need fewer than 12 online course credits to complete their degree. Enrollment fee: $1,065.

I'm sure that 895 $ is now the increased 1065 $ but I'm confused about the wording from the site. If you need more than 12 credits the fee is 395$, if you need less than 12 credits the fee is $1095. I don't want to get overly excited thinking the 395 $ may apply to me when it doesn't so can someone clear this up for me??I'm starting from scratch like absolute scratch taking micro/a&p through Excelsior and cleping the rest of the prereqs (+ dantes, aleks and 1 or 2 uexcels).

This was the response I received from my advisor about those options. Hope it helps.

With the course based option that you are enrolled in, a student is required to take 12 semester hours of online courses through Excelsior. However, if you plan on taking examinations (when possible) for your remaining degree requirements, examinations cannot be used to fulfill the course option. The multisource option (which is the other choice) does not require students to complete 12 semester hours of Excelsior online courses.

To transfer to the Multi Source enrollment option, you would send a written request asking to transfer to the Multi Source enrollment from the course based enrollment, along with the fee to complete your transfer. The fee is the difference between the Multi Source enrollment and the Course enrollment fee (The Bursar's Office can tell you what the exact cost will be {approx $670}; they can be reached at 888-647-2388 ext 1422 or through the Message Center by composing an inquiry to Student Accounting). Your written request must have your signature on it. You may fax your request to 518-464-8700.

If you remain in the course based option you can:

1. Try to enroll in 4 nursing theory online courses (currently $1,275 each, very limited availability as this is a new initiative)

2. Enroll in online courses for four general education online courses (currently $1,275 for each 3 semester hour online course)

3. Try to do a combination of options 1 and 2

If your plan is to take your remaining requirements as examinations, you'll want to switch to the multisource option, as you will not be required to take any online courses

I'm sooooooooo confused. I'm not enrolled so I won't be transferring. Also I won't be doing "courses". Ill be doing this on my own. Self studying and self paced credit by exam. Based on this info could you let me know the enrollment fee? I can't wait until monday to call o_O

Multisource option $1065 if only doing credit by exam. Pay for exams & practice tests separately. After a year you pay another annual fee of around $450

If you plan on doing the majority of your degree through credit-by-exam, you would have to pay the multi-source enrollment fee. If you are going to fulfill most of your degree through Excelsior's online courses, then you pay the lesser enrollment fee.
