New to Excelsior!!

Hi all,

I am currently finishing up my pre-reqs at a local college, :w00t:! I wanted to know whether or not the nursing program is transferable into BSN programs afterwards. Has anyone successfully done this? Another thing, are the study guides for each exam provided with the cost of each exam, or is it a separate fee?! I'm so excited to be getting started, and will be even happier when it's over.

From what I understand, most BSN programs give you credit for your license - if you hold a valid RN license you get 50-60 credits. I've been told some are really sticklers for the science classes and you may need formal ANP, Micro, and Chemistry with real labs and most now require college algebra-math or statistics. I just started EC, but I've been planning my ADN for awhile and took these at a local college waiting for entrance to their program (2 years!!!), so that when I go on I shouldn't have any problem transferring. I got tired of waiting and went with EC, our DON is a EC grad and very helpful with info. I took the CLEP & DSSTs for Psych and Soc, human growth, literature, ethics in america and religions of the world, and english and info lit through penn foster and communications through a local college online - so I think I will do well with the online/self study aspect. This is the info I have gathered over the last couple of years - anyone please correct me if I'm wrong!! :coollook:

You get a 'content guide' kindof like a syllabus for each exam - it tells you what areas to study and the textbook chapters. I'm using the content guide and studygroup101 along with the textbooks and the practice exams. The content guide is free and the textbooks were pretty cheap on Amazon and studygroup101 is $10 per course, I got the last edition textbooks, not the newest.

Thanks so much for the insight, I've completed all my cores at a local college. The only class I lack for an RN program would be Chem 2, World Lit, and a Phys Ed class. I currently work on a cardiac floor in a local hospital and don't really want to quit on the grounds of an traditional nursing program. I am really going to do some more looking into EC and hopefully start in January. Good luck with your studies!!
