What is CLEP? I googled but I'm not sure how this relates to excelsior nursing degrees. I'm new to this and it's a lot of info. :)

You don't have to use CLEP exams. It's just a quicker way to gain college credit by studying on your own and testing out of the 15-week course. It is for general education requirements. For example, if you can pass the CLEP exam for College Algebra and your college accepts the credit, you don't have to sit through the 4-month course.
You can take most of your general education requirements with EC using CLEP (College Level Examination Proficiency) exams if you choose to. Purely optional.
