Hello,

getting ready to take the Microbiology course through excelsior. Not taking the exam, but the actual course itself. The bookstore says that in addition to the textbook, you must purchase the access code. I was wondering if anyone has taken this course already, and if so did you really need the access code? I don't want to buy it if it isn't needed since it's almost $200!

I am also taking microbiology starting the Feb29th semester. I saw the price of that book and access code and almost passed out. Over 300 bucks for that is highway robbery. I did see that you can get the code separate from the book. I haven't heard if it is necessary or not. On the first day of class you probably can find out for sure. If it is you can get an access code online probably. I wouldn't waste money unless it was absolutely necessary.

The book can be rented, a lot cheaper, if the access code is not needed.

I ordered the access code through the bookstore and got the loose leaf version of the textbook thru McGraw Hill for $25. You can also read the textbook online when you have the access code.
